MarCom

Lions Clubs Belgium

The Marketing & Communications Committee plays a significant strategic role within Lions Clubs Belgium and actively contributes to the organization's long-term vision.

The committee focuses on visibility, impactful communication, and member recruitment, with the goal of strengthening the Lions’ image and supporting the growth, diversity, and rejuvenation of the membership through the recruitment and retention of committed members.

Principal tasks of the commission

  • Promoting service projects: Highlighting social initiatives carried out at the local and national levels through social media, the press, newsletters/news flashes, forums, and events, while emphasizing the social value and impact of Lions projects.
  • Strengthening the brand image: Positioning Lions as a dynamic, committed, and connected volunteer organization with a strong tradition and a genuine ability to make a difference.
  • Member recruitment: Using engaging communication campaigns to attract new, committed members who wish to become actively involved in their communities.
  • Supporting local clubs: Providing clubs with tools, guidelines, and support to enhance their communications and reach a broader audience.

Structure of the commission

The committee is composed of the four MarCom Coordinators, each representing one of the districts, as well as a key representative from the Leo Clubs.

Close cooperation between the districts ensures consistency and effectiveness, while preserving local specificities.

Particular attention is paid to the cultural diversity of the different districts, as well as to their respective priorities.

When necessary, the MarCom Coordinators are supported by Lions members who are responsible for managing the website, social media, news flashes, and other communication tools.

Building a Strong and Positive Brand Image

One of the primary missions of the Committee is to create a strong and recognizable Lions brand.

To achieve this, it relies on several key elements, including:

  • Adopting and enforcing a unified visual identity in line with international guidelines;
  • Communicating positive, people-centered messages that emphasize service, solidarity, and impact;
  • Actively promoting the Lions as a modern, welcoming, and socially engaged organization;
  • Ensuring that all communications, both internal and external, maintain a consistent tone and message.

A strong brand not only enhances visibility and recognition, but also inspires trust and pride among members and supporters.

National Projects in the Spotlight

The Committee also ensures that projects supported at the national level receive appropriate visibility.

A few examples include:

  • SOHAP (Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Program)
  • Food Banks, particularly the Delhaize campaign
  • Lions European Music Competition
  • Youth Camps & Exchange
  • LCIF (Lions Clubs International Foundation)
  • Support actions for Ukraine (for example, the stove initiative (WICTU3), toy collections, and other relief efforts)

Promoting these initiatives through social media, websites, and the press helps them gain broad support, both within and beyond the Lions community.

Conclusion

The MarCom Committee connects and strengthens. Through storytelling, attention to branding and a positive public image, strategic communication, and collaboration, it succeeds in highlighting the full value of Lions service—among members, within the wider community, and to potential new volunteers.

One mission. One driving force. One promise. We Serve.
