European Music Competition

Lions European Music Competition – Organisation and objectives

Organising the Music Competition

This committee is responsible for organising the competition and selecting the most talented candidates.

Objective

The Lions European Music Competition aims to support and encourage promising young musicians at the start of their careers.
This competition provides them with a stage to showcase their talent and develop their musical future.
In addition to the competition itself, we organise concerts to offer winners additional opportunities to perform and increase their visibility.

History and Context

The Lions European Music Competition was founded in 1988 at the European Forum in Gothenburg.
Since 1998, the national selection competition has been held annually in Belgium.
Over the years, this event has become an essential springboard for young musical talent.

Since the 2024 European Forum in Bordeaux, the Lions European Music Competition is no longer a secondary activity
but is now an integral part of the programme for each future European Forum.
The constitution of the Lions European Forums has been modified accordingly.

Much More Than a Competition: Performance and Promotion

Our competition is not limited to selecting and awarding prizes; it goes far beyond that.
We are actively committed to supporting the winners by offering them opportunities to perform at exclusive musical events.
This not only allows them to gain experience, but also to reach a wider audience and advance their careers.

The Lions European Music Competition is much more than just a competition: it is a unique opportunity for young talents to shine!
